Want to talk? Have you been wondering what a Trailblazer is? Want to know more about PBS? Do you have other questions about being a Jamerson Parent? Come to the parent lounge on the First Friday of the month, from 8:15-9:15. This is an informal opportunity to meet other parents, speak with some staff members and get some questions answered. Light refreshments will be served.

Jamerson LOVES it's Sunshine Math Program...

Find out how Sunshine Math got started 40 years ago by a local professor!  Read the letter “Thank You, Barbara” on pp. 6-7, published in the journal Teaching Children Mathematics.” CLICK HERE

Reading is the basic building block of all learning.
Through books children can explore new ideas.
Reading provides opportunities for children to flex their critical thinking skills, develop problem-solving techniques and increase their vocabulary and knowledge of the world.  Reading opens doors to our children’s success in the future.  In a word, reading is important.
The more children read the better they become at reading.  The more they like what they read the more they view reading as a pleasurable and entertaining activity.  It is our goal to both encourage our students to READ EVERY DAY and give them opportunities to learn.

Once again Douglas L. Jamerson Jr. Elementary School has been named a Magnet School of Excellence. This is the seventh consecutive year that Jamerson has been recognized as a top magnet school by Magnet Schools of America.

Jamerson Elementary Receives the Mayor's Top Apple Award for 2013 (Click Here for the article in TampaBayOnline)

Our school was once again recognized by Mayor Bill Foster and St. Petersburg City Council as a recipient of the Top Apple Award for 2013, for outstanding academic achievements and accomplishments.

In order to be considered for this nationally competitive award, schools must excel in meeting rigorous standards in the following areas:

  • a commitment to high academic standards
  • curriculum innovation
  • successful desegregation/diversity efforts
  • and the consistent delivery of high quality education to students.

Congratulations to our wonderful and dedicated staff, students and families!
